MAILS CLOSE — Tuesday, January 2, 1872. For Oamaru, per p.s. Wallace, at 6 a.m. Wednesday, January 3. For Northern ports of New Zealand, per 8.8. Taranaki, at 10.30 a.m. For Timaru, Akaroa, Lyttelton, Christchurch, Hokitika, and Greymouth, per s.s. Beautiful Star, at 1.30 p.m. For registered letters, money orders, and newspapers, one hour previous. Monday being New Years Day, this office will be closed, and all country mails usually despatched on that day will be made up on Saturday evening, at 8 p.m. AHCH BARR. Chief Postmaster.
