(from greville's telegram company, beuter’s agency.) Auckland, December 12. The new choral hall in Symond street, was burned down early on Sunday morning. The finding of a bottle of kerosene and some oily rags clearly indicates that the fire was the resulted incendiarism. There is no clue to the perpetrators ; and a LIOOO is offered for their conviction. The building was insured for LI 500. Another fire on Tuesday night destroyed Hawkwood’s foundry and eight cottages, The remainder of a large block of wooden buildings was only saved by great exertions. The Hoyal has policies to the amount of L 35 0; Victoria, L 30 0; and the New Z aland, L 75. The Caledonian reef has been cut in Tookeys. It is of greatly reduced size, and unpromising iu appearance. Shares at once fell from L4O to L 27, and are still falling. Caledonians have risen t > L 72 IDs ; Thames, L 33, Dividends Caledonians, 100s; Thames, 30s ; Tokeata, Bs.
