WASTE LAND BOARD.
This Day. The Board met t-i.day at the office of the Chief Commissioner. Present: The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Reid, Duncan, and Hughes. . Peter Dunbar’s application, through Gillies and Street, to purchase part af the railway reserve, adjacent to the new railway bridge over the Waitaki was declined. Wm Murcott’s application to have section 49, block 1, Otepopo, put up for sale at 10s an acre was referred to the Ranger k for report. Robert Tubmau’s application to purchase sections 11 and 12, block 1, Benger District, held under an agricultural lease, was approved. A letter from Dr Menzies was read, asking the decision of the Board relative to No, 2 Regulation, for depasturing on unsold lands in Hundreds, which he contended was ultra vires. The Commissioner was requested to reply. The Chief Commissioner was requested to inquire as to Messrs Gillies and Street’s application for a coal lease, on behalf of E. A. Dodsley, at present occupied by Lyall. George Anderson’s application for a lease of section 24, block 7, North Harbor and Blueskin, was declined. The former decision was confirmed on Connell and Hoodie’s application for reconsideration of a A. M‘Queen’s offer for a lease for a mill at Tapanui. Tbe report of the ranger that Mr M‘Kellsr refused to make the return required by tl e depasturing regulations, was referred to the Provincial Solicitor. D. B. Craig’s application, on behalf of the Papakaio Education Committee, to have seition —, block 4, reserved for a school, w 8 referred to Mr Hislop. Mr Wheeler’s application, on behalf of the Naseby Water Works Company, to purchase the ground on which their main pipe is laid, was referred to the Warden. Mr Shrimski’s application to have secticn 64, Oamaru, sold by auction was declined.
