FIJI ITEMS.

By the-arrival of tire schooner Merlin last evening, we (Auckland Weekly Keu's) have Fiji papers to September 13. The Times of that date reports attack on a plantation. With reference to the late attack by the mountaineers on the plantation of Messrs Abbott and Gaul, wc have received further particulars from a resident on the Ea coast. The natives who made the attack were Kai Colos, and belong to the town of Natingary. After the first attack Messrs Abbott and Gaul made every preparation, and took the precautipn of cutting portholes all round the building. The natives came the second time, one carrying fire for the purpose of firing thehouse, but when fired upon they hurriedly retreated taking the dead body of the chief’s sou with them. The report of arms, however, brought up a lot of coast natives, on whose approach the mountaineers made off, leaving the dead man (who was shot through the neck) behind them. LATER news. By the arrival of the ketch Wild Duck at Auckland on the 14th inst., Fiji papers to September 20 were received. There is little news of importance. The Fiji Times says : "The Planet brings the news of another murder at Tanna by the natives of that island.
