MAYOR’S COURT.
This Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor.) DRUNKENNESS. Thomas Ireland was fined 5s for being drunk. OFFENCES AGAINST THE BYE-LAWS. John Monteith for cruelly illusiug a horse by working it when it had a sore leg, was fined 10s and costs ; Henry Spiers for polluting a watercourse in Great King street, 20s and costa ; A. J. Smyth, for allowing a horse to wander, John P. Jones, William Allen, and William Rodgers, for allowing cattle to stray, 5s and costs each; Richard Donaldson for casting filth on Walker street, 5s and costs; David Moncrieff for furious driving, 5s and costs. Thomas Ireland wrs charged with plying for hire with unlicensed express waggons. It appeared that the man was in the employ of a Mr Russell, who had made application for a license before he was summoned, but did not obtain it because he had not sent sufficient money. The license having been taken out since, the case was dismissed on payment of costs. Marlin Brennan and James Cunniqgham, for plying for hire with their cabs off the stand, were mulcted in costs.
