PARLIAMENT.
(from our own correspondent. ) Wellington, October 4, At last evening's sitting, the House proceeded to the discussion on the Education Bill, which was taken in committee. The fifth section passed, with an. addition that clergymen are disqualified as inspectors of schools. Progress was then reported. The Bill will most likely be withdrawn, Mr Vogel moved the House go into committee of ways and means. Mr Stafford and Messrs Gillies and Woftd objected to the proceeding, op the groqpd that' no opportunity had bpen afforded for a general discus siou of the finance measures of the Government. Mr Vogel said if the Opposition had any objections to any portion of the policy they should raise the question distinctly. The House then went into Committee upon the stamp duties. There was a desultory discussion until 2 a.m. Messrs Calder and Webster abjured being reckoned as members of the Opposition. Mr Murray gave notice, amidst much amusement, of his intention to move for a new Constitution for the Colony,
