At the coroner’s inquest, on the remains of the boy Harris, who has been missing since August last, the jury returned a verdict of “ Found drowned,” and added a rider requesting the Government to take steps to prevent boy's from fishing under the wharf. Nelson, Sept. 15. Two fishermen were drowned off the entrance to the Waimea river last night, A boat was capsized yesterday in trying to come thr nigh the Boulder bank passage. Messrs Win. Webber and Slcaver, together with Mrs Caroline Reynolds and child, were drowned. The survivors were picked up in a very exhausted condition by the light-house-keeper. At a meeting of the City ratepayers last evening, resolutions were carried in favor of the Nelson educational system. The country ratepayers have expressed a similar opinion. Timaru, Sept. 15, A large meeting at Geraldine last night protested against the proposed diversion of the Temuka Railway. A committee was appointed at Temuka to frame a memorial to the Assembly, embodying views similar to those of the Geraldine meeting.
