Sir— From whatever source the telegram, which you published in Saturday’s issue, respecting th ! affray in New; York', emanated, it js evident ,thit the compiler is hostile to that' WuCli-toali^bed I '’body’ of faen Called Orangemen ; and, in bis anxiety to perpetuate the injustice to, whiph they have beep subject, ho commits a palpable absurdity. The telegram .-ays that “ the Catholic Irish turned out in immense force to prevent violence by the Orangemen.” Now, had it said “to offer violence to” the Orangemen, all that follows would have been intelligible to the most ordinary, understanding; for we find that the first act of this Catholic Irish mob was to fire upon" the NationalTJiTafd and Police ; and the rrsult of the affray—besides the number of these Catholic Irish killed aud wounded—has been “to revive thrbugh)at the.
