CITY ELECTIONS.
To the Editor. Sir, — The election for Bell Ward is creatingjquitc a stir. The ratepayers have a good choice this time, and it will be their own fault if they don’t get a good councillor. I quite agree with the letter signed, Ratepayer, iu to days Times. As lam convinced that taking all things into consideration, Mr Paterson would make the best councillor. I don’t believe in councillors residing out of town, because however much they may promise to do when they are candidates, it is astonishing what fine excuses they can make for the non-performance of their duty. The Ward is in such a state that we Jcaunot afford to run any risk in that score. Mr Neale is a very sensible man, but he has not had the experience in business matters that Mr Paterson has though 1 believe he won dbe incomparably belter than Mr Gilchrist, as he has at least some claim to intelligence. We have been so unfortunate iu our councillors hitherto, that we ought to be par : ticularly careful in our selection this tiqae. I am, &p., CITIZKJT.
