RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

This Day, (Before A. 0. Strode, Esq., R. M.) CHARGE OF STABBING WITH INTENT. Agnes Macdonald was charged, on the information of Constable Gatclitfe, with maliciously stabbing and wounding her husband with a pitchfork, with intent to do serious bodily harm. The parties live at West Taieri, and the deposition of the husband was put in, who stated that he did not believe his wife stabbed him with any malicious intention. She was standing about fifteen yards frbm him, wh*n he asked her to hand him the fork, which she threw towards him, apd failing to catch it, the prongs cn tered his side, The Commissioner asked, under the circumstances, that the woman might be discharged. His Worship said he hoped it would be a caution to her when asked in future to give a thing, to ha-.d it, and not to throw it towards the party. A certificate was handed in, showing that the wounded man was recovering, and she was therefore discharged. Civil Cases. Towns v. Colclough.—LlOs. • The plaintiff had received a cheque for the amount since service of the summons. Judgment for costs. Hamraan v. EsquilanC— L2 11s. In consequence of a notice of inso vency being put in evidence, the plaintiff was nonsuited, Pritchard v. Ballantyne.—-L5 16s 4d. This case was struck through non-appearance of the plaintiff.
