MINING COMMISSION.
The Commission met to-day. The Chaiunan repotted that the sub-com-mittce had net concluded their labors in connect! m wi hj the Victorian Mining Statutes. He said that the report would he laid on the table on Thursday. d he following resolutions were passed : “ That, in the opinion of this Commission, it is advisable that the Goldfi Ids Wardens should be removed from district to district, at least once in throe years.” “ That transfers and sales of mining property should he exempt from the operation of the Stamp Act; that th Legislature should be urged lo this effect —am!, f iliug success, that a uniform duty of one shilling should be fixed on all transfers of mining interests.”
“ That clause 14 of the Goldfields Regulations should bo incorporated in the consolidated Goldfields Act, with such additions and regulations as may be necessary.” “ That the Commission arc of opinion that Wardens should be required to hold f cqm n- fittings of the’r Courts iu the outlying dU ricts, and, where required, slim'd lix, at least once in three months, the days on which such Courts should l e hel I—the same to be inserted in the Prodndnl Government OnzvJht and local newspaper,” “That the words ‘ may in his description, clause 26, Goldfields Act, be struck out, and the word ‘ shall ’ substituted.”
