(FROM CRKVILLB’s TKLEUIUM COMPANY, KKUTFJI’.S AH ENTS.) Wanganui, May 20th. A destructive lire took place at Taupo Quay at 1 a,in. to-day, when the premises of Mr, Rcvell, baker, Mr. Owen, draper, and Mr. Keen, barrister, were burned. Most of tire goods in Mr. Owen’s shop, as well as Mr. Keen’s papers, were saved. Heavy rain was falling at the time, which saved the adjoining premises. Invercargill, May 22. A severe storm has been raging the whole of to-day. The rivers between the C'iutha and Mataura are Hooded, the fords have been washed away, and the crossings are dangerous. The Rivertonites have decided upon forming a municipality. Judge Chapman lectures here tonight.
