Waikouaiti, March 29, The following arc the results of today’s races The Maiden Plate, of 10 so vs, was won by Ranger; and the Hawkslmry Handicap, of 30 sovs, by Burgundy. Patea via Taranaki, March 27. Mr Bosworth, clerk in the Land Registry Cilice, was drowned whilst bathing on Friday. The body was recovered on Sunday. The inquest and funeral take place to-day. An extraordinary Aurora was visible yesterday at sunrise in the south-east. Napier, March 29. Yesterday was proclaimed a genera holiday, in anticipation of the arriva of the Luna with the Southern Volunteers. The local companies were under orders to turn out lor their reception, but the Luna did not come. To-day is proclaimed a holiday for the same purpose.
