A. Mercer reports for the week.—Fresh batter in lumps 'and pats, 9d to lOd per lb.. according to quality; salt butter, in keg, 8d per lb,, the demand is improving. Colonial cheese, 6d to 8d per lb. Colonial bams, Is Kr lb., and scarce; rolled bacon, lOd per English hams, Is 6d per lb. Eggs, Is 9J per dozen, and very scarce. There is no change of moment to note in the gran market. On account of there being much rain daring the week, farmers have been unable to deliver their grain, and the wheat market has consequently been very bare. Wheat is in good demand, and although the supply is short, still for prime samples, sales cannot be made at prices beyond our quotation. <l ats are steady, but We have nothihg to mention further than trade inquires. In barley, their is a slight improvement, the new crop, however, is not yjt in the market. Potatoes—the supply is s lort. Best brands in flour are ruling at Lll 10s, and there has been a good demand at this figure. Bran and pollard are plentiful, and prices arc maintained with difficulty. Wheat, milling, 4s; fowls, 2s Gd. Oats, milling, 2s 6d to 2a 8d ; feeding, 2» 4d. Barley, 2s Gd to 3s 6d. Flour, Lll 10s. Bran and pollard, L 4 15s, including bags. Oatmeal, Ll6. Pearl barley, L2O. Straw, L2 10s. Hay, L 3 15 ’. Chaff, L 4. Potatoes, L 3 ss. Carrots, L 3. Onions, Ll4.
