A man named Stanliouso, belonging to the steamer Victoria, was accidentally drowned on Monday night at the head of the Luke. The body was picked up yesterday in 12 fathoms of water. An inquest will be held today. The Census returns shows the population of the township to be 545, being an increase of 240 in three years, Invercargill, March 15. A public meeting was held last night to form a municipality. It was adjourned for a week.
