PROVINCIAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS.
WAiTAKL The nomination of candidates for this district took place at Macrewhonua on Saturday last. Messrs J. E. Fulton and Geo. Sumpter were proposed. The show of hands was—for Fui,ton, 12 ; Sumpter, 4. The poll will take place on the 17th. GAM ARU COUNTRY. The polling took place on Monday, and Resulted in the defiatof Mr D. Hutcheson, wh<? has represented the district for the last four years. Tlje following are the numbers polled ,* — Webster. Hutcheson. Oaiparu ... ... *2O SO Papakio 12 fi 41 36 WATKARL Mr D. Millar has retired in favor of Mr H. Driver. SWITZKRS. The nomination takes place to-morrow. Tl>e Resident Magistrate has forbidden public meetings ip hotels, on account of the prevalence of tGarlatjua. WAIHOPAI. The nomination took place to-day. Messrs Blacklock and Wood were nominated. The poll takes place on Monday.
