This Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor and J. T. Thomson, Esq., J.P.) DRUNKENNESS. Ellen Gately was lined 10s; Thomas Jones 20s, or three days; Elizabeth Johnson and Margaret Willis 40s each, or a week’s imprisonment ; Alice Hawley L 5, or 14 days ; James Christie and Hugh Boss were dischirged with e caution. Alice Hawley was sent to gaol for three months, for being a a habitual drunkard. RAPE, Joseph Carey was again brought up, charged with ravishing a girl pained Isabella Esplin, aged eight years, at Dunedin, on the 19th instant. The Bench considered the evidence insufficient to warrant a committal, and discharged the prisoner. DISOBEDIENCE. Thomas Jones, a seaman belonging to the schooner Swordfish, charged with disobeying the commands of Captain Henry, was remanded until to-morrow. THEFT. Alexander Henry and James Wallace, two hoys charged with stealing fruit from a garden at Caresbrook, were each fined ss. OFFENCES AGAINST THE BYE-LAWS. Daniel O’Connor, Patrick O’Donoghue, Martin King, John Waugh, and Michael Dumb, were each fined 2s fid aud costs for allowing goats to wander on the Town Belt; and Daniel Claffey was fined 5s and costs for a similar offence. James Gardiner, for building without a license, and John Porter, lor carrying on a dray timber which projected beyond the limit allowed by the bye-laws, were mulcted in costs. ALIMONY. In the case of Nimon v. Nimon, the Bench gave judgment, ordering the defendant to pay up arrears, but discharging him from further pontrjbutiqns his wife’s support.
