BRUCE ELECTION.

Tokomairiro, January 28. The polling took place to-day with the following results ; Murray ... ... 131 Dyer ... ... 90 Cutten ... ... 72 Black 31 Majority for Murray—-11 The official declaration will be made on Tuesday. Invercargill, January 30. Mr Macandrew arrived on Saturday evening, was met a few miles outside the town, and received enthusiastically. The town was dressed in bunting. Mr Macandrew addressed a meeting at eight o’clock, which was very largely attended. His speech was well received. There Avas a small but pertinacious opposition, and a motion and amendment were moved. A dozen persons voted for the amendment. The majority Avas overwhelming. Mr Macandrew met the electors of the Myross district this forenoon. A unanimous vote in his favor was passed by the meeting. [Mr John H. Mitchell, the chairman of Mr Macaudrew’s meeting, telegraphs as follows] : January 29. Mr MacandreAv arrived here at seven o’clock last night. The toAvn Avas dressed in bunting, and he met with an enthusiastic reception. He addressed a public meeting at the theatre at eight o’clock. Although it was an inconvenient night, the meeting Avas oroAvded to excess, it being the largest ever held in Invercargill, An adverse vote was proposed, but Avas only supported by twelve, persons—the motion that Mr MacandreAv Avas a fit and proper person being carried by acclamation. [The folloAving private telegram has been placed at our disposal]:— Mr Macandrew arrived last night, and carried all before him. Business was suspended to receive him. He spoke for three hours, in spite of fatigue and illness, and Avas repeatedly cheered, Seven hundred persons Avere present.
