Death of Dh Waters. —The Jersey Independent of October 29 gives an account of the sudden death of Dr John Jones Waters, who practised medicine some time in this city. Infanticide, —The (lirouer’s inquiry upon the body of the child louud near the Old Cemetery last week, which was adjourned fro n Monday, was concluded yesterday. The medical evidence went to show that death had resulted from exposure, ami from pressure upon the ho ly causing blood to flow from the month and nose. It was stated that from appearances the child was full-grown and healthy, and had been carried to the spot. A verdict of “ wilful- murder against some person or persons unknown” was returned. The Coroner took occasion to congratulate the jury on the rarity of infanticide in this place, only five cases of the sort having come under his notice during the last eight years, and spoke in terms of the highest praise of the humane conduct of Mrs Bills, by whom the child was taken in charge after its discovery.

The quarterly meeting of the Otago Schoolmasters’ Association will hr held in the Education Cilice, to-morrow, at one o’clock.
