[The following was published by us as an “ Extra ” to-day :—] We have received the following telegram from the General Government: — Wellington, December 31. Reports of a massacre at Waikato have come in from Taranaki, and maybe telegraphed over the Colony. We have news from Auckland to the 27th, and there is no mention of it; therefore do not believe it, It is impossible that news from Waikato via Taranaki, and by land mail to Patea, should be so late as the 27th from Auckland.
