BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.
(from greville’s telegram company, keuter’s agents.) Christchurch, December 15. The Lyttelton Times this morning says ; —“ We have no hesitation in saying that the proceedings at the public meeting at Dunedin, on the Bth, were of a character to reflect disgrace on any intelligent community.” The leader goes on to say that the Otajo Daily Times is a rabid party organ, and it terminates by saying that Mr Barton, as secretary, has repeatedly used the Press Telegraph Association as a medium for the dissemination of strong political opinions identical with those promulgated in the columns of the Otago Daily Times. A large house in Cashel street east, belonging to Mrs Hossack, was burnt down last night. The building was insured for between L3OO and L4OO. The contents were uninsured.
