MAYOR’S COURT.
Tins Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor.) DRUNKENNESS. Bridget Keono, fur being a habitual drunkard, was sentence! to three monldis’^ imprisonment ; and for drunkenness was lined 40s or 14 days’imprisonment. Jas. Duncan was lined ss. .SOLICITING ALMS, Jamos Sweeting alias Simpson was charged with this offence. A short ti no ago Hie same prisoner was charged with a similar offence, and his case was then taken into favorable consideration by the Bench, on account of his earnest plea for his wife and family. It was now proved that his talc in reference to his family was a pure invention, that his wife was a hardworking woman, that to her he was a burthen, and that lie systematically solicited alms. He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, with hard labor.
