OTAGO RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

l The Association’s annual meeting commenced afjthe new range at Anderson’s Hay yesterday., The shooting, as will Ho soon by the scores, was moderate, the weather being both wet and disagreeable. The opening match was the one in which the first prize was * Tin; mayor’s our, presented by Mr H. S. Fish, Mayor, value Lit) 10s, together with L2 in cash ; a second prize of 1.5 ; third and fourth prizes of L 3 each"; fifth’ and sixth prizes of L2 each ; and a seventh and eijhth, a ninth, and a tenth, of Li each. Ranges of 400,500, and (iOO yards ; live shots at each range. Hythe position at, 400 yards ; any position at 500 and COO yards; Wimbledon targets and scoring. The following are the winning scores :

Tin-: RANGE PRIZES', in, connection witn ,'the lirst match were three prizes of LI each, in which the following arc the winning scores :—Sergeant Wcdderspoon, No. 1, C.G., 400 yards, IS points ; Lieutenant L. Marshall, Waikari Rifles, 500 yards, 17 points ; Sergeant D. Brown, East Taieri, 600 yards, IS points. Sergeants Wedderspoon and Douglas and Corporal Adam tied for the range prize at 400 yards. . Sergeant Wedderspoon was the winner, lie having in shooting off made a bull’s-eye against centres made by the others. Lieut. Marshall and Sergeant Blatch tied at 500 yards. In firing off, the former won, his last shot being a bull’s-eye to the latter’s centre. THE SECOND MATCH. ■ In this the first prize was the National Rifle Association’s silver medal and L 5; a second of L 4; a third of Lfl; fourth, fifth, ami sixth, of L2 each ; and a seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth, of LI each. Ranges—2oo and 500 yards ; seven shots at each range. Hythe position at 200 yards, any at 500 yards. Targets and scoring, Wimbledon throughout. Appended are the names of the winners, together with their respective scores :

The winners of the range prizes of LI each in connection with the match were—At 200 yards, Corporal A. Adam, Bruce Rifles, 24 points ; at 500 " yards, Color-Sergeant J. T, Douglas, No. 1, City Guards, 25 points ; the latter beating Corporal M'Kenzie, of the Waikari Rifles, by having a bull’s-eye for his last shot. ' The matches opened this • morning. The weather was tine, clear, bright, and favorable for shooting. , The advantage of this is shown by the scores as below. The matches commenced with the third match, Hythe position at 200 yards, any position at 500 and COO; Wimbleton targets and scoring through, out. The principle prize in this match was a silver cup,, valued at 15 guineas, presented by Mr W> Alason, and L 3. The remaining prizes amounted to L 22. The following arc 4.1. - - .

The winners of the range prizes are—at 200 yards, Cprporal M‘Gregor, 18 points; 500 yards, .Sergeant Cowie, IS points ; at (iOO yards, Ensign llichardson, 19 points. The small-bore match commenced at one o’clock, ami had not finished in time to enable us to obtain the scores.
