John Hall, Tosswill, Brown, and Cox. The subscriptions up to this day in aid of the sufferers by the fire amount to LSOO. The Superintendent forwarded a message to the Provincial Council last night, stating that be had given authority for the expenditure ot any sums which might be needed under the calamitous circumstances, to supply the immediate wants of the sufferers. Wellington, October 26. The body of Mr Porteous, seen four weeks ago by a seaman on board the Luna, was found last night fearfully disfigured, A boy named Tandy was found by his father last night night at eight o’clock. Pie was snpposeu to have been drowned off the jetty in the afternoon. Half the proceeds' of Heller’s entertainment to night are to be devoted to the sufferers by the Lyttelton fire. Three companies of Militia last night gave up their arms, previous to being called out under the new Act. Three more do so to-da-'. Hokitika, October 26. A murderous assault was made last night with a tomahawk on a woman named Kilnor by her husband. Her depositions were taken at midnight, as her life was despaired of. She is better to-day, but not thought out of danger. Assaults on women have been rather frequent of late.
