M'Callum for slaughtering a cow without .giving due .uotico, was .fined L 5. A further charge of neglecting to present the skin to the Inspector was withdrawn. BREACHES OF THE BYE-LAWS. John Pringle for riding in his cart n-t having proper reins was fined 10s and costs. S. Thompson, driving a cab in George street, not having proper lights, 10s. David Baird driving on a footpath dismissed, STEALING FROM THE PERSON. Alexander Milligan alias Johnson, was charged with stealing a L 5 note from the person :of Thomas Reynolds while drunk and asleep at the Universal Hotel. Tlie offence was pro ved and the prisoner was sentenced to three months imprisonment. CHARGE OF STEALTNG A WATCH AND CHAIN, John Edhopge was charged on the information of Charles Field with taking from his house a gold watch and chain of the value of L2O. The evidence went to show that the watch Avas apparently put inadvertently into the prisoner’s pocket, and the case,was dismissed.
