Tins Day, (Before his Worship the Mayor, ami I. N. Watt, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. John Tyson was fined ss, and James Watt 20s, or three days’ imprisonment. DESERTION. Robert Tomlinson was charged with de-
sorting from H.M.S. Blanche. _ From the evidence of Constable Bevan, it appeared that the prisoner was arrested this morning on his discharge from gaol, after doing a sentence for assault He at first denied that he was a deserter, but admitted that he left the vessel on the occasion of her bringing the Prince to Otago. On the application of the Commissioner of Police, the prisoner was remanded for eight days, to allow of Captain Montgomerie being communicated with.
