ST. ANDREW STREET BOG.

To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sir —Opposite Reiily’s property in the above street, iu wet weather, the rogd and footpath are literally impassable, except on stilts, or with great detriment to tho boots and pants. This state of things has been greatly aggravated by the City ,Corporation, who, some months since, commenced filling up at tiiis part, and have kept laying, dribble drabble style, a load now and another again without finishing what they had begun. The matter deposited has been moist, filthy muck ; in some instances, the scrapings of the streets, varying from the consistency of gruel upwards, and making a complete slough of dirt and mud. New not to speak of it in a sanitary point of view, and how the health is affected by such moist, • filthy matter deposited under your nose, the public have a rigiit to a passage by the road or by the path. Who to blame I know^iot — councillors or street inspector ; but tho state of things which exists in St. Andrew and Cumberland streets—the one boggy, the other groat Bell-hill boulders—is a disgrace to tho City Corporation, and more especially to the local councillors. I would close my remarks with a word of advice to tho Town Corporation—Do first what is needed most, and learn to finish a job before you fly to another. Let metal as closely as possible follow muck. I am, &c., AquAxic. Dunedin, June 13, 1879-
