(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.) Bluff, May 15. Melbourne May 9. Parliament meets to-morrow, and the Financial Statement will be made next day. No organised opposition to the Ministry is expected. At a numerously attended meeting of shareholders of the National Bank, the annual report, declaring no dividend, was negatived. A motion, proposing that a special meeting should be held to consider the matter, was carried. The Directors recommended the appointment of a new Manager. The fosses are variously estimated at from L 20,000 to L40.00Q. JVli* E - M - Young, of South Australia, has been offered the appointment of General Manager, vice Mr Wright, resigned. Public subscriptions, amounting to L7OO, have been forwarded to Sydney, in aid of the Floods Fund. The negociations for the union of the Presbyterian Churches are satisfactorily progressing. ■A large auction sale of meat preserved at Fchuca has been held. The price realised was -id per Jb, Kelly, the mate of Power the bushranger, has been arrested near Benalla. Power still remains at large. Another prosecution, under the Trusts Statute, has been commenced against Draper. Commercial. Business is without animation. Quotations are as follows : Flour, Xdl ss; maize, 4s 9d, scarce; wheat, 4s lOd to 4s 6d, scarce ; oats, 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Sugars have slightly declined. An active cncpiiry exists for teas, in phests, at 2s 2d. Candles are in demand ■; huge sales have taken place at 104, d. Kerosene in rising : one parcel brought 2s 10id. Sydney.
The severe floods have caused a great destruction of property ; several lives have also been lost. GnndagaUwas submerged, ami Cowra, almost destroyed. Extensive land slips have taken place at Maitland. Traffic on the? railways has been resumed. The Kate Kearney, from Western Australia, Juki hoop placed in quarantine, having three cases of suiail-pox on board. Thirteen men who escaped from the Walter Hood have reached Sydney, after undergoing great sufferings. A large portion of the cargo has been washed ashore. Five bodies have also been recovered at Sboalhaven. The wreck was sold by auction for LO-u Thunderbolt has resumed his depredations.
