This Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor and Dr. Buchanan.) INFORMATIONS BY TilK MARKET INSPECTOR. J. S. Lloyd was charged with hawking and selling fish on several occasions in Maclaggan street, not having a license. Tijo defendant asked for a remand until op tije grpund that he had been drinking and his head was not cjuite clear. ,1. Davis proved purchasing fish of the defendant, who wished to shew that he went first and asked for an order and then delivered the fish. The other charges were proved. The witness said he had the fish in his basket. The defendant was also charged with using insulting and abusive language to the Market Inspector, calculated to provoke a breach of the peace. Witnesses were produced who proved the charge. Hia Worship considered the conduct of the defendant so gross, and his endeavors were so persistent to evade the license fee, that it was necessary for example sake to fine the defendant LlO, or one month’s imprisonment. INFORMATIONS BY INSPECTOR NIMON. B. T. Stohr, neglecting to clean his premises was fined 10s; Samuel Crafts, postponed for a week; Walter Blakely, for a nuisance, was fined 2s fid; G. J. Bock, waste water on the footpath, 10s * John Green, driving a horse in a cab with a sore shoulder, 20s. INFORMATION BY CONSTABLE ANDERSON. Peter Campbell, charged with cutting a branch of a tree on the Southern Recreation Ground, was discharged with a caution.
