TONIC SOL FA.

To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sir, —May I trouble you for a small space in your paper. In to-day’s Evening Star, a certificated Sol-Faist writes he would be glad to join a class along with any other Sol-Faists that may be in town. I may state I have two classes that meet every Monday night in the Baptist Chapel, Hanover street, a juvenile class of about sixty, and an adult class of about fifty; both classes are getting on splendidly. The adult class are studying for the elementary certificate, and I have every reason to say they may all take it before the end of our quarter. We use the standard course of lessons, and arranged reporters. Mr Hislop, the secretary of the Education Board, has kindly given us a large sized modulator and our books at English prices. Those are the first [classes I have taught in New Zealand, being only a re ent arrival, I have taught the method for a long time in the Home country, I hold the advanced certificate (A.C.) and have a mem* ber’s certificate of the Tonic Sol-Fa College, London, both signed by the President of the college, the Rev. John Carwen. If your correspondent, a Sol-Faist, knows of any other certificated Sol-Faist in town desirous of forming an intermediate or advanced class for practice, I will be most happy to do anything I can to further our truly educational method of teaching to sing. A. C. St. Andrew’s street, Dunedin, April 28.
