THE BENDIGO REEFS.
(From the Argus. ) We are not In a position to present our readers with much news from the reefs this week, for with tke exception of the trifcl crushings at tho Aurora battery, incident® worth chronicling have not been numerous. Our readers may, however, rely on being kept posted up in all matters which are worthy of notice. We append a few iterm of general interest. The trial crushing of the stone from claim No. 10 oast, Aurora (Messrs Reed* and Loughnan’s), yielded about an ounce to tho ton. The stuff was a mixture of mullock and quartz. The trial crushing of Colclough aud parly, which has been long looked forward to with great interest, on aocount of the rich appearance of the stone in the claim, took place at the Aurora battery after Messrs Read and Loughnan’s stone was put through. The yield, although hardly comiug up to the expectations of some, is an excellent one, and must be considered highly satisfactory. Thirty-five tea* of stone were put through the mill, with a yield of over four onuses to the tea. The eteiie eras taken ppoauaeue^sly
mm the reef, and the shareholders have therefore evqry reason to bo satisfied with this result. Broadfoot and Kelly are carting tfleir stone to the Aurora battery for a trial crushing; and nntil the stone is on the ground, the latter company are putting through their own stone. They have grassed a large quantity during the time the mattery has been used by the public, and this will be put through the mill during the next fortnight; in the meantime, the holders of surrounding claims are busily engaged carting quartz to the battery for trial crnshings.
