MAYOR'S COURT.

This Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. The following persons were sentenced, for drunk and disorderly conduct, to pay the amounts specified : —Michael Burke, 10s ; Alex. Thomson, 10s ; John Daley, 10s ; or 24 hours’ imprisonment in each case ; Margaret Stuart, 14 days’ imprisomeut.

STEALING. Edward M'Cartney was charged with stealing a pair of blankets, a coat, a pair of trousers, a Crimean shirt, and flannel shirt, a pair of socks, and a pair of boots, from the dwelling of Thomas Benson, Pine Hill, and there was a further charge against him of stealing two blankets, a tent-fly, a pair of socks, a purse containing Bs, and a quantity of tobacco from William Marshall and Edward M'Glashan, residing on Pine Hill. Both offences were proved, and the prisoner was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment in each case ; the sentences to he cumulative. OFFENCES AGAINST THE BYE-LAWS. Ou informations by the Town Belt Ranger, lames Simpson, for allowing two cows to depasture in the streets, was fined 2s 6d each, and costs, and John Barr, for one cow straying, was lined 2s 6d and costs. PORT CHALMERS. (Before his Worship the Mayor and T, Taylor, Esq., J.P.) Nine articled seamen belonging to the ship William Lindsay, charged with wilful disobedience of lawful commands, were sentenced to eight weeks’ imprisonment with hard labor, the costs to be deducted out of the wages then due to them. Mr Hansford prosecuted and Mr Bathgate defended.
