The principal incidents, or shall we say accidents, of late, have been rather serious ones, and include the burning down of the Star and Garter at Richmond—an occasion which gave rise to an immense amount of gushing sentimentalism in the papers, and some very bad retrospective jokes. Unfortunately it was no joke for the poor manager, an old army man, who was burned to death.
