THE FIREPLUGS.

To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sir, —In your report of the late fire on Saturday evening last, I observed in the latter part a reference made to the want of consideration by the City Council to the Fire Brigade’s correspondence. I may state that it is now twelve months ago since the Secretary of the Brigade first wrote to the Council respecting the state of the fireplugs, and three or four letters have been sent since on the same subject. Surely such a matter needs but little consideration, seeing that it is of such great importance. It is to be hoped, now tha the insurance companies are represented in the Council, the Fire Brigade will have no further need to complain that their correspondence is neglected.—l am, &c. Hose Reel.
