MAYOR’S COURT.

This Dat, (Before W. H. Reynolds, Esq., J.P., and A. Garrick, Esq., J.P.) The Court opened at ten o’clock. informations by the inspector op NUISANCES. W. Greenwood, removing rubbish contrary to the Ordinance, was fined 2s 6d; and for leaving a horse and dray unattended, 2s 6d, with costs in each case. Anderson, for driving a dray across a footpath, was fined 2s 6d and costs. In consequence of a mis-statement in the Daily Times, that the Court would not open until eleven o’clock, many persons were not in attendance, and the Court adjourned to tliat Hour. DRUSK AKD DISORDERLY. W. Hayes and J. Mead, for drunkenness, were fined 5s each. —For similar offences, John M‘Dowell and James Wiley, having been locked np since Saturday, were discharged.—James Hill, arrived by Gothenburg, was discharged with a caution.—James Hill and James Stapleton, for fighting in Duke street, were fined—the former, as the aggressor, 10s, and the latter 6s, and coats. FOUL CHIMNEY. A. Richardson and James Gloeson were charged with allowing a chimney to take fire. The two parties aro living in adjoining houses, and their two fires communicate with one chimney. Neither could say when Jthe fire originated. Each was fined 2a 6d and costs. NEGLECTED CHILD, Alexander Anderson, a boy whose mother recently died, and whose father is resident in Newcastle, N.S.W., was ordered to be sent to the Reformatory for seven years, to be educated according to the Presbyterian form of religion. BREACH OF THE BUILDING ORDINANCE, John Otto was charged with making alterations in his premises in George street, without first making application to the Corporation for leave according to the provisions of the Building Ordinance.—The Building Surveyor said that the premises were rather improved as against fire by the alterations, and his only object in laying the information was that an example might bo made as a warning to others.—The defendant was fined 10s and costs.
