(.FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, Friday. The Star of the South, which arrived at Napier to-day, brings late news from Auckland. The Long Drive Company has paid a dividend of L 3 per share. A crushing of 2071b5. of stone gave 915 ounces. The yield from the claim for the month of September was 3,911 ounces, and from October 1 to October 15, 2,530 ounces. Mr Gillies charges Mr Williamson with buying up the whole of the Auckland Press. The Southern Cross gives the lie direct, A vote of confidence in Mr Gillies was passed at Onehunga. The Pride of Karaka claim has declared a dividend of Is. Prospectors from Ohinemuri, Upper Thames, have reported the discovery of rich quartz reefs there. A small house in Chapel street, Wellington, has been burned down. The Rangatira sailed for Dunedin yesterday with the Maori convicts. Cromwell, Friday. Outside the town the excitement has considerably abated. At the reefs little work is being done. Many of the claims had to be disputed, and litigation is expected. Parties are still visiting the reefs in large numbers,
