(kro.m our own correspondent.) Wellington, Saturday. Auckland, Oct. 20. A trial of 98 lbs of stone from the Shotover Reef, Coromandel, produced 10 dwts of gold. Report says that speculators have purchased large tracts of auriferous land at Ohinemuri. The Argus Company has struck a fine leader. At auction shares realised the following prices :—City of Glasgow, L 6 ; Junction, L 5 ; Magenta, 4s 3d : Pride
of Erin, 6s 9d j Imperial Crown, 20s 6d , Young American, L 3 9s ; Belfast, L2 6s ; Burra, 2s 6d; John o’ Groats Extended, 4s. Oct. 21. Four thousand six hundred ounces of gold have arrived from the Thames. The Cambodia Claim took on the 16th 9587 ounces of gold and 4000 ounces of silver. Mr Williamson had an enthusiastic reception from the settlers of Howick and Fanmure, and had votes of confidence passed. Good stone has been struck at the Una Claim, and a rich leader by the Tapu. A skeleton has been found on the North Shore, believed to he the remains of Lieut. Snow, murdered twenty years ago.
