GENERAL ROAD BOARD.
The General Road Board met at the Provincial Buildings to-day. at e even o’clock. Present— His Honor the Superintendent, Messrs Reid, M‘Lean, Duncan, and Haggitt. Sever d appointments were confirmed ; in N.E. Harbor, Lambton, Walton, Ahuriri, Weston. N.E. Valley, Inch Clutlm, Men lav Bank, Blue Mountain, Blueskin, Pierna, North Taieri, Henley, Kahaka, Highcliffe, Broad Bav, Te Houka, Sandymount, Merton, B'ighton, South Badge, Parakanai, and East Taieri. The foil wing applications for rates were sanctioned; —Bcaconlield (special rate), 8d per acre; Flagstaff, 6d; Pukcuri, fid; Waiwera, 4d ; Weypiouth, Id; Rcslyn, 9d in the LI; Enfield, ' Is do ; Hampden reduced to fid per acre; Teaneraki, 6i > Kaikorai, postponed ; Kaihiku, 3d; Otakaia, 4d; N. E, Harbor, Is —a proportion to be spent on the road to Mr Anderson’s property; Wiugatua, Is in the Ll ; Tomahawk—the former decision of the BnaVd was adhered to, that the rates levied in block 7 be expended in that block ; Walton— resolved that a precept be issued, the Hoard to be notified that, before the rate is expended, a plan must be submitted to the Road Board, 1 and that steps be taken to open up a road to*Mr M‘Col’s property; Windsor, Is in the Ll ; Sydney, fidjier acre ; Lambton, fid ; Awamoa, 3d; V est Harbor, Is. Soutbridge.—An application for a road deviation was sanctioned. ' The' application to include Kensington in the Caverslnun Road District was granted. On Alt’ Cameron’s complaint that he had no road to his propeity, it was resolved to intimate to the Brighton Road Board that unless they took the necessary steps to open % road to Mr Fagan’s land, the General Road Board would d.o so out of the local rates. Sandy in aunt. —Mr Carr’s application for an expenditure of 1.3 was granted on condition that there was that amount to the credit of the Local Board. On an application from the Pine Hill Road District, to borrow 1140 for expenditure on the upper portion of the district, it was resolved that the General Road Board is inclined favorably to entertain the proposition, provided that due notice is given to the whole of the settlers in the district, and that it is satisfactorily shown that the value of the property in it will warrant such a loan. An application from South Bridge, that vehicles conveying gravel for the formation of the roads be allowed to pass the tollgate toll free, was granted. Applications from North Taieri and Raikuia, fqr a rate of Is in the pound, were postponed.
