RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT
This Hay. (Before A. C. Strode,' Esq., E.M.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. Annie Mansfield, Kate Macdonald, and .John Marshall were each fined L 5 or 14 days imprisonment, for habitual drunkenness. Kate Macdonald was also ordered to pay 10s or to be imprisoned 48 hours for breaking a 'window ; the sentence to be cumulative. John Duncan, for drunkenness and sleeping while in charge of a dray, was fined “20s or 48 hours imprisonment. John Drew for drunkenness was fined 40s or a week’s imprisonment, and John Howard charged with drunkenness was discharged. Civil Cases. Creigli v. Craig.—Mr Wilson for the plaintiff. This was a claim for Lls 2s, alledged to be duo for a c uv and calf sold by the defendant. The sum of His was withdrawn. The particulars of the case were that the plaintilf had entrusted the defendant to sell a cow and calf, for which he had taken a bid. The defendant pleaded not indebted, as he had not received the money for the cow. Judgment for the plaintiff, Ll4 10s. Gibson v. Heron. A claim for L 4 12s 6d, balance of account for making a dray. The defendant pleaded not indebtel, as the agreement was that the dray and frame should be made for LS, without ironwork, which he offered to provide. He did not object to pay for certain items not belonging to the dray. Judgment f r the plaintiff', L 4 Os Gd, with costs. Meenan v. Millar.—A claim for L 9 7s 8d for 15 bags potatoes and one cask butter. The defendant pleaded not indebted for the amount, and objected that the potatoes were not those bought by him, and that the butter was sect back on account of being under weight. Judgment for the plaintiff for the amount.
