Sir, —My attention having been called to a statement made by Mr Fish at bis meet? in" hold yesterday evening at Wain’s Hotel, Water of Leith, in which Mr Fish, with a singularly defective memory on this one point only, says he believes the tender of his firm in 1 Stiff for the kerosene lighting was at the rate of Lit) per lamp per annum, and that I had so stated.
I beg most distinctly to deny having either to Mr Fish or in his presence or to any person made any stat incut pther than that Mr Fish’s tender for the public light; ing was in excess of Mr Hutchison’s by 23s to 25s per lamp per annum. —I am, &c., Ben, Willoughby, Secretary, Dunedin Gaslight and Coke Company (Limited).
