RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

This Day. (Before A. Chetham-Strode, Esq., R.M.) Civil Cases. Hay v. Robinson, was a claim of L 3 for goods supplied. The defence was that the books had been supplied on account of the Eire Brigade, and were ordered by the defendant, as a servant of the Corporation. This being admitted by the plaintiff, be was non-suited. Telfer v. Beale, was a claim for LI. The plaintiff sought to recover from the Manager of the Bank of New Zealand the value of a LI note, which had been presented to the Bank for payment but refused, althouhg the plaintiff had offered to give a guarantee if required. The note was devoid of a signature. Mr Macassey, who appeared for the Bank, submitted that the defendant was not liable as the note was not presented ip the state in which it was issued. The Magistrate took a similar view, and dismissed the ease, Spicer and Murray v. Alfray, was a claim for L 5 12s 6d Judgment was given for the amount claimed and costs.

Several other cases of an unimportant nature were disposed of.
