MAN-POWER BREACHES

Three persons were fined by Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court on Friday for breaches of the man-power regulations. Theodoor Johannes Schoon, artist, 30, who did not appear, was fined £1 and costs for failing to register for work of national importance and £3 and costs for failing to take up employment with the New Zealand Railways Department when directed.

Thomas Morrison, labourer, 26 (Mr. W. J. Stacey) pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to take up employment with Internationa] Paints of New Zealand. Ltd., when directed. After the hearing of evidence he was convicted and fined £3 and costs. <

Roma Raukura Ropata, factory assistant, 25, who did not appear, was fined £2 and costs on each of two charges of absenting herself from essential employment and a further £1 and costs for failing to report at the man-power office for an interview when called upon.
