BIG WHALING EXPEDITION
LONDON, October 25.
The Ministry of Food, which came into existence in April, 1940, is to be continued, said Lord Addison in the House of Lords. He hoped the country would become accustomed, to regard the existence of the Ministry as an essential and necessary part of the national economy.
The "Daily Express" says the Food Ministry is sponsoring a whaling expedition costing £750,000, including three factory ships, which will leave next week for the Antarctic to procure an increase in the British margarine rati on. next year. It is hoped to collect thousands, of tons of whale oil. Any resulting surplus fats will go to help liberated Europe. The ships will carry radar to warn them against icebergs.
