FOUND IN FLAT
SEAMAN'S OFFENCE
Charged with breaking and entering premises in Blythswood Flats with intent to commit a crime, Patrick Byrne, alias Burns, alias O'Shaugnessey, alias Patrick Farrell, seaman, 51 (Mr. G. C. Kent), was found guilty by a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon. Mr. Justice Johnston remanded the prisoner for sentence.
The occupant of the flat had found Byrne standing in the kitchen late in the evening. He was in his shirt sleeves . and there was a quantity of broken crockery at his feet. He said he was sorry to have broken the crockery and that he would go and get his mate and return. He did not come back. Linen and other house-: hold articles belonging to the occupant were found in the kitchen wrapped "P "J-j"1 ironing blanket and sheet, me defence was that,Byrne was in a very advanced state of intoxication, and evidence was called to that effect.
