INDIES REVOLT
SEHLEMENT EFFORT
INFORMAL TALK EXPECTED (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) Rec. 9 a.m.. BATAVIA, October 26. It is understood that Dr. Van Mook, Lieutenant-Governor of the Netherlands East Indies, has invited Dr. Soekarno to meet him for an informal talk, says an Associated Press correspondent. It is believed that the meeting will be held tonight. Dr. Soebartejo may also be present.
Dr. Van Mook suggested General Christison's house, though .* the Indonesians favoured the house of the American Consul-General, Mr. Foote. Dr. Soekarno and Dr. Soebartejo spent an hour with Mr. Foote this morning discussing the situation. The talk was entirely "social," since Mr. Foote is unable to act officially without the blessing of the State Department, though it is known'that he personally is prepared to do anything to help.
