The first round of Ihe Wellington Miniature Bifle Association B grade matches, resulted as follows: —Collier and Beale 318, Brooklyn 314; Onslow (1) 336, W.W.M.C. 327: Public Service 332, Keeco 295. Possibles (70) were scored by C. Butters (Public Service) and' F. J. Waterworth (W.W.M.C.). K. Clarke (Onslow) and Mrs .Clarke (Brooklyn) each returned 69. B grade matches for this weeK are as follows ;_Tuesday, Onslow (1) v. Public Service. and Xeeco v. (Onslow (2) ; Thursday, Brooklyn v. W.W.M.C. C grade matches for nejet week are as follows:—Tuesday, Varsity 2 v. Collier and Beale, and Necco v. Municipal; Wednesday, Melrose (2) v. Brooklyn; Thursday, Varsity (1) v. Public Service. At a recent meeting of delegates it was decided to hold the Wellington championship meeting on the Brooklyn range on Saturday, September 29, and If sufficient support is forthcoming, the Wellington Indies' championship meeting on the same range on Saturday, Sepr tember 15. Provision has been made for no additional grade for learners (average 60 and under) and for a special ladies' matoh. Suitable badges are being procured for the Marksmen Badge competition, one of the objects of which is to encourage standards of efficiency. The tests are 20 shots deliberate, the "master shot" class requiring a minimum score of 199 x 200 and the A, B, O, and I) classes 196, 190, 185, and 170 respectively. It Is hoped that a biannual competition can be arranged between the Hutt Valley and Wellington associations to take the form of a friendly competition at the opening of the season*-and a competitive competition at the close The Public Service Club," with which is associated the Island Bay Home Guard, held Its usual shoot last Thursday at Buckle street, Scores (possible 70).—A grade: I), Cameron 69 C. Butters and V. Wilson 67. B grade jO, B' Pennington (1.8. H.G.) 64, ,T. D. Chapman (18H.G.) 64, F. Sheargold (1.8. H.G.) 64. Beginners.—W. H. Coop 68, .J. W. Gardner 68 Miss S. 1\ T. Coop 63, P. Schreiber 63, R. A'Holme 62, and Miss J. Thornton 62. "Own start" possibles: C. Butters. W. H. Coop, R. A Holme, J. D. Chapman, D. Cameron, .T. W. Gardner, and A. N. Boag. A shoot-off will be necessary. Last week's ties were shot off and resulted in a further tie by Butters, Miss Coop, Schreiber, and Wilson. The club was fourth In the New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association "own start" competitions. The team scores were as follows. — Cameron, Butters, B. L. White, and Wllso* 99 each, and N. Boag 94.
