A RED FLAG?
MINISTERIAL CARS
The Minister of Transport, in aj notice of question given by Mr. W. A. Sheat (National, Patea) in the Housa of Representatives yesterday, was asked whether he would arrange that Government cars carrying Ministers of the Crown engaged on urgent public business—and thereby exempt from, tne speed limit regulations—should carry a distinctive mark so that other motorists would not suspect the drivers of such cars of committing a breach of the regulations; (Laughter.) Mr. R. Algie (National, Remuera) suggested as a distinctive mark a red flag.
. Mr. Sheat said that in a recent case at Oamaru a private motorist who followed a Ministerial car travelling at high speed was charged with a breach of the regulations. The Magistrate, in entering a conviction, said that the Court was placed in a most invidious position in such cases.
