NETHERLANDS AND DENMARK

Netherlands bank-notes and currency notes of the denomination of 100 guilders have been withdrawn from circulation as from July 14, and notes of smaller denominations will be withdrawn in the near future. Danish bank-notes of all denominations have been withdrawn as from July 16. All the Danish notes called in are dated 1943. The import into Denmark of the notes affected by this callin is prohibited unless permission is previously granted by Denmark s National Bank. These announcements are made by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand at the request of the respective authorities. .. It has not been the recent practice of banks in New Zealand to purchase either Netherlands or Danish notes from the public. Those who hold such notes, of any denomination, are requested to deposit them for custody with a bank, on or before August 4, accompanied by a letter giving the following details:—Name and address of depositor, date of deposit, date on which notes were acquired, full details as to how the notes were acquired, and details of notes by denominations. Subsequent compensation for notes deposited is subject to investigation by the • appropriate national authority. Both the Netherlands Bank and Denmark's National Bank state that compensation cannot be expected for notes which are not deposited on or before August 4, 1945. .■ It should be noted that this call-in does not apply to Netherlands East Indies guilder notes of any denomma-, tion. __^____
