Rec. 12.45 p.m. CHUNGKING, July 23. The Chinese pressing towards Kweilin recaptured Paishoii, 25 miles westward of Ining, a highway junction, 11 miles to the north-westward, and Chaihsu, a railway town 57 miles to the north-eastward.

Other columns exerting pressure from the south-west reached a point eight miles from Kweilin. Another Chinese force is approaching Yangse airfield which, if recaptured, will be the seventh lost American base to revert to Chinese-American control.
