TOKIO BAY ASSAULT

f It is revealed that a 32,000-ton Japanese battleship of the Ngato class was damaged in last week's attack on the naval base of Yokosuka. This news is included in details given by Admiral Nimitz of the results of Wednesday's attack by British and American planes on the Tokio Bay urea.

Vessels reported to have been sunk included a destroyer, four cable-lay-ing vessels, and seven torpedo-boats. The battleship had its super-structure heavily damaged. American planes smashed 30 Japanese aircraft on the ground and damaged another 40, while British planes damaged many Japanese junks and hit airfields north of Tokio.

Light forces routed a small fleet of vessels, sinking two and damaging the femainder.
